Strange noise ?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Strange noise ?

Hi everyone, Im having a strange noise on my new road bike and I hope someone can have some insight on it.

When I'm on the 50/11 gear, im getting some kind of chain noise when putting a good amount a power (mashing hard or out of saddle). The strange part : its only on the right leg pedal downstroke.
Doesnt do it at all with the left leg.

I also get a click on the downstroke of the right pedal. That is really weird.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Tighten pedals, tighten cleats, tighten chain ring bolts, tighten cranks

Strange noise ?

Chain rubbing on front derailleur cage? Very common. Simple adjustment with screws on derailleur.

The bike has already been adjusted two times. Why is it rubbing under load only on the right side ? Something is flexing or what ?

Because whoever did the adjustment may not have done a good job of adjusting the limit. When you are in bigest chainring/smallest cog the chain will be farthest to the outside toward the derailleur cage. If you are in the smallest chainring/biggest cog the chain will be farthest to the inside toward the derailleur cage. That's when you are likely to get rub i the limits are not adjusted properly. From my experience with my sram group the front derailleur if very finicky and takes a lot of patience to dial it in. Rubbing usually sounds like a roller coaster going acceding to the top before a big drop (in my opinion)

i have spent a lot of time chasing strange clicks and creaks on my bike and I have found it can be any of the things I previously mentioned or anything with a bolt that can be tightened or loosened like the stem, handlebars, headset, qr levers on wheels. The source of the noise is often the last thing you'd expect. That's why some shops charge ridiculous ammounts to troubleshoot weird noises

Try and avoid the gear combos that cause the maximum chain torque. If using the large chainwheel, I never go the the largest rear cog but stop at 9 ( out of 10) and vice versa.
