Talk to that guy from Silence of the Lambs. "It rubs the lotion." Except maybe use tanning or bronzer, guys from the Jersey shore might know which is better to look like an old saddle.
Sorry I missed the non part of the non-leather.
This looks okay.

Deda makes a synthetic leather that works:
https://www.amazon.com/Deda-MISTRAL-B...brown+bar+tape
It has "Deda" written on it in silver, but whatever doesn't get covered by wrapping comes off easily with some alcohol or nail polish remover.
It's a pretty good match for a brooks honey saddle, as you can see here (sorry, have to link to flickr they won't let you embed anymore):

Only problem is that it's VERY thin. Feels thinner than the fizik superlight on my other bike.

Pretty obvious, get the Brooks leather tape to color match the saddle. Excellent tape will last years (4 so far on mine )

Layer 1: whatever cork tape you can find the cheapest at your preferred source for this sort of thing.
Layer 2: yellow cotton tape (newbaums?)
Coat with amber shellac until it reaches the right hue. Won't get slippery when wet like leather, cheaper as well. More durable than cork.
At least that's what I've been told on about a million C&V threads while planning future ideas. I've got the stuff to do it for my next build, but I haven't gotten around to actually trying it yet as I've reached an impasse with the paint.

My memory may be off, but I recall Fizik offers (or offered) their tape in a honey color that appealed to some Brooks users.
Amber shellac: use it on white or yellow tape,...does not matter which; the end result will be the same. Does the same on neutral cork, but the shellac seems more prone to wear on the cork (maybe due to the slight "give" of cork).
Honey saddles darken with use. The match won't be the same over time. Matters little with your butt on the saddle.

Hi, folks. I just bought a Brooks Select in their uncolored organic leather.

To get the price, I had to put up with 2-week shipping, so I don't have it to compare to bar tape. Anyone have suggestions for something not nearly as expensive as leather tape that might match? I'm running trekking bars, so the prospect of spending more on bar tape than any other part of the bike is a bit daunting.
Would regular cork tape work?
Thanks!
