need advice on an entry level road bike

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

need advice on an entry level road bike

I really want to start riding to get back into better shape and to start doing some rides for charity/races etc.... im 6'3 235 lbs. and am curious about what is a decent road bike that's not too overly priced, any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Use the search function and you will find dozens of threads on the topic. Short version. Entry level bike shop brand will cost you about $700 or $800 MSRP. You can get one for a little less if you go the internet route through bikes direct, performance, or on sale at REI.

For $120 more the Novara Zealo with disk brakes and a mega range cassette is a worthy upgrade.

For $100 more with the same 30% refund, the GTR 2 is much better equipped and a better buy.

+1

Actually, for only about twenty bucks more, you can get the GT GTR 2 with the Tiagra Gruppo and CF fork, instead of the Divano with the less attractive Sora Gruppo.
