I just wanted to make sure that I am not he only person who sits and stares at....
My: Bicycle, motorcycle...and past things that I have owned. To a certain degree my pickup truck...I just take glances at that...I do not sit and stare. Just wondering. Scott |
i stare at my 1975 vespa primavera sitting in pieces in my garage and try to picture it after i have the time and money to properly restore it.
old scooters are pretty much the only things with motors i really freak out about. i also sit and stare at all the space i have in my spare room(where the bikes hang) to hang more bikes... |
Sometimes Ill go to the garage just to look at my Cannondales and I stilll keep a picture of my silver 78 280Z, THE best looking car ever. Weird?? yeah, probably :) .

I love to just relax and look at bikes and my vw bug dreaming of riding and driving my first and the fastest car I have ever driven. I also have a tendency to look at photos of myself and others in our club and dream of our next ride...
About that time I naturally go to the garage and go on a ride... |
When I was single and heavily into motorcycles I had a picture of my motorcycle on my desk. This was while I was in Iceland with 100 other guys and 6 women.

My girlfriend has found me on numerous occasions staring at the LOOK I'm building. It's hard not to as it hangs on the stand right next to my computer. When I first got my 944 turbo (951) I used to stare at it a lot. Every time I get new parts for any of my two main vices (cars and bikes), I like to stare at them for a while before installing them. Every once in a while I actually learn something from it.
|
ah, yes, i sit and stare....
....at myself. naked in the mirror. hahaha.... ...yeah. *sigh..* =\ actually, when i'm working on a layout for a paint job, i'll stare at it(the design, gutterbrain) for hours on end before i ever start spraying paint. there are probably more hours spent sitting and staring than actual hands-on work on every job i do. i'll stare at my bike alot, too. i guess when i stop staring and thinking about how cool it looks, it'll be time for a new bike. |
I get it at times with my bike, and definitely with my old car, but this week I've had it with my kid's new bike. I can't get over the thing!
|
Tonight I caught myself starting at my road bike again, sitting attached to the trainer, ready to go. I would visulize the race tomarrow, the corners, the straights, the pack, mentally prepare for pain and suffering. It is focus and the bike brings back memories...
|
Definately a starer. Have been known to bring the bike into the living room after a ride, pour some 12 year old scotch, throw on some Coltrane or Davis, and chill out.
|
First off: muccapazza - way to go on the music (see my avatar).
And yes, I do enjoy staring at my pride and joy, although a lot of the time I'm staring at the mental image and trying to figure out what to do next. One might call it an obsession, but I prefer to think of it as a wonderful, money-sucking disease! |
Yes.
I've stared at my bikes & car, just admiring them. |
I sit and stare at my computer wondering how I can spend so much 'dern time on this forum when I should be out riding.
Oh wait, it's 11 pm and pouring outside. 55/Rad |

Thank god I'm not the only one. I admit, it's tough to go out to the garage at night without stopping to look at my bike for a few moments. When I was traveling for a month last summer, I insisted in keeping my bike in the hotel rooms with me. One reason was simply for security, but to be honest, it seemed to feel like a security blanket after a while. I simply felt better having it in the room with me. (Yes, I was traveling solo.)

my bike is hanging in the living room and mycomputer is just beside it, I alway look at my bike, one time my wife saw me and she said, what are you staring, I said I was staring at my bike, you really want to ride that bike, I said yeah
|
Maybe you should try meditating rather than engaging in idle worship of your possessions.
|
uhhhh (drools a little) I'm sorry what did you say? My bike is on my trainner next to my computer.
|
No, I hate to stare at my bikes. However, I do stare occasionally at the cranks, stem and handlebars to look for cracks. Every time I hear about a horrifying fatigue failure it makes me paranoid.
|
I stare at my bikes all the time. And usually end up fidgeting with something and wasting an hour here and there when I should be getting sleep.
