Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

25%********** NO WAY.

Shimano's bicycle revenue in 2013 was $2.1 BILLION. Campy's was $150 million.

Shimano's revenue is FOURTEEN TIMES Campy's in the component group market, not 2X.

It's hard to say exactly since SRAM hasn't released sales figures since 2010.

SRAM Corporation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you take an average of SRAM's sales over the past 4 years, and use Shimano and Campy's most recent sales data, AND assume that Shimano, SRAM and Campagnolo are the only 3 players in the component group game (which they are not) market shares are approximately:

78% Shimano ($2.1 billion)

17% SRAM ($450 million, extrapolated from 2007-2010)

5% Campagnolo ($150 million)

After skimming through the article, I'm more concerned about campy than I was before: they seem arrogant and inflexible. I do think they will be around for a long time, however. I don't think they will be or want to be a large market share player in the game ever again.

Most of you are too fat for Campy.

"If you weigh 82 kg/180 lbs or more, you must be especially vigilant and have your
bicycle inspected more frequently (than someone weighting less than 82 kg/180
lbs) for any evidence of cracks, deformation, or other signs of fatigue or stress.
Check with your mechanic to discuss whether the components you selected are
suitable for your use, and to determine the frequency of inspections.

Plus points for ESL.
I've studied foreign languages, so I get it.
I apologize for the grammar slam.

Why the concern? They're not Shimano with their massive product volumes, and have no desire to be. They want to do their product, aimed at their market, the best they can. And as long as they maintain their standards of performance and design, their niche in the market will always exist. There's more to success in business than just being number 1 in sales.

I am not their accountant, it does not mean what I said was false.

Is it an obviously false claim?
