Is Shimano on the rise?

You see Sheeemano evewywhere, so yes, plus they're cheaper.

The best keeps getting better.

Shimano has improved the sport for everyone with practical innovation. With the latest DA, Ultegra & 105 groups they seem to have upped the bar again in terms of performance. On the rise and climbing higher.

I've caught more fish on Shimano gear than any other.

Suntour is lighter, and shifts faster.

Therefore, suntour is on the rise.

Yes, their advances in the ugly crank field are second to none. Now Campy is even copycatting their ground breaking unevenly spaced chainring bolt hole design.

But Campy uses plastic in their cranks. Therefore, campy is on the rise. Plus, they've always been more campy.

Unfortunately, In this Postmodernist world we live in ugly is the new normal.

No Shimano is not on the rise. They have more competition than they've had in years. At the lower end MTBs, SR Suntour cranks and front derailers is eating their lunch, big time. And, Suntour is thinking of expanding into other areas. SRAM is still a major force in road biking and MTBs. Anyone who remembers the mid to late 90's when there was only Shimano in the MTB world and their only real competition in road biking was Campy, knows they had an incredible market share. (I think they may have hit 90% of the MTB market at one time). They're a great company and I like their road bike components and they're still #1 , but they've got some real competition.

Cheap is bad. Less expensive, cost efficient are good.

But if you want to ride cheap stuff that's your prerogative.
