2009 Giant TCR Alliance...
How can I tell a Giant TCR Alliance 0, from a TCR Alliance 1, or a TCR Alliance 2?
The frame seems to get good reviews, with composite use of both of aluminum and carbon, as described on the Giant site. Interestingly, it has Dura-Ace derailleurs, shifters, brakes, and crank, a Thomson seat post, an FSA headset, a Chris King front hub, and a Dura-Ace rear hub. Was that a set that was ever standard on an Alliance, or has it been modified/upgraded? This is the only pic I have: http://i.imgur.com/J1v6Mhc.jpg |
I think the components you name pretty much make it top of the line bike. In Giant's case it would be a TCR Alliance 0 since back then there was no electronic shifting.
Great bike, I recommend you post this picture in "Hot or Not" ASAP! Nevermind. That bike is a 0 with upgraded componentry. Look at the original bike specifications in the link below. 2009 Giant TCR Alliance 0 - BikePedia |
That isn't stock. Looks like someone slapped on Dura Ace.

Sorry, I'm usually a C&V'er...where is the "Hot or Not" thread?
Is this something you are looking to buy or is it already yours? If the former, how much are they asking for it? Seems like something that could end up being a heck of deal if so. Great bike overall. http://www.bikeforums.net/road-cycli...ot-thread.html |
Ha! Thanks for your honesty, and the heads up about the nature of Hot or Not.
A friend and I test drove several bikes, and he ended up buying this one. It rode very well, and we were both impressed with the Dura Ace components. The seller was asking $950, my buddy got it for less, but I don't know what the final price was. Funny you should mention the stem. In addition to being at a "not hot" angle, there was a bit of play in the stem when pulling up while accelerating - despite the clamp being quite tight. My guess is that it will be swapped out soon. |
