Legitimizing AERO road frames....what more needs be done?

***Mod Edit: Name of rider removed. Please this Sticky here in Road- http://www.bikeforums.net/road-cycli...do-not-do.html or the very least talk about the race in the Pro Cycling for the Fans forum.

What is it about an AERO frame being too heavy and having too much flex compared to a real road frame that makes it not worth considering? :popcorn

I do believe minor advantages such as aero frames/helmets/etc. can add up and be important for professionals. For us amateurs who do not get paid to race bikes, not so much.

This. An aero frame isn't going to help me too much with my average speed of 16 mph. I could get more aero by taking off 20 lbs off my waist.

But if someone wants to buy a aero bike, more power to them. A buddy of mine just got an aero Ridley Noah bike. Very nice indeed!

Okay, I just removed the rider's name from 4 posts (2 of those were quoting the OP in order to point out his transgression). You want to talk the tech of the race, fine- but don't discuss the riders or their teams until well after the race is completed- not everyone has the luxury of being able to watch in real time.

And for those that tl;dr (or didn't see the edited OP)- http://www.bikeforums.net/road-cycli...do-not-do.html
