Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

They are expensive but there is no shortage of people willing to pay for them. It all goes back to supply and demand.

I don't think they are that expensive:

Considering you will get 2-3 years out of them before overhaul it's pretty cheap.

I just bought centaur 10 on sale with a coupon at nashbar for $116. Of course, the biing and poseur' point value of DA and Record will empty your wallet faster.

Nice thing about those levers at AE Bike is that they come with the Campy Cable set.

Sydney, do you know to get around paying $40 for a genuine Campy cable set-up. I think Galen_52657 told me how to do it one time, but I forgot.

I think you can use regular brake? cables, but you have to do something to the shifter? cables (I'm not clear on this at all)

Alot of cables are generic or universal and work with campy or shimano. The campy specific stuff uses smaller heads. A dremel too with an abrasive attachment is the fix.

I just sand down the shift cable head with a little sandpaper. Takes a minute or two...but saves a lot of time if you use generic inner shift cable and the head gets stuck in the shifter....
