Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

GU Rocane enegry drink I think I like it!

I rode a 100K event a few weeks ago and was really wiped out at the finish. When I got home I has some cramps in my legs which is unusual for me. I decided to try something different to drink when I rode. I have used Gatorade, Sobe water, plain water ect. along with quick energy foods in the past. I bought some Roctane drink powder and tried it on a 20 mile ride in the heat and it seemed good.

Saturday I rode The Dehydrator at Duncan Oklahoma. When I do a early Saturday ride I don't get to go to bed the night before since I work second shift and don't get home till a couple of hours before I have to leave. This leaves me a little tired before I even start.

I filled both water bottles with Roctane and took enough powder to mix two more. After about the third bottle I started feeling really strong. The last 20 miles I felt great. I ran out of my last bottle about 60 miles or so and just got water & some pickle juice for the rest of the ride. The people I was riding with were starting to suffer cramps, I felt like sprinting the last few miles. All I ate was a couple of cookies and pickles the whole ride. When I got home I had no cramps and after a nap I felt fine.

I know a couple of rides are not proof but I am going to keep using it and see if the results hold up.

This was my longest ride to date and now I feel I can do the Hotter than Hell 100 in August. Until now I had my doubts. BTW I turned 62 July 23rd

That's supposed to be Roctane

I'm guessing it was the pickles!

Wasn't the pickles, last ride I ate pickles at every stop and drank juice too and still had cramps when I got home. I can't hardly pass up a pickle.
