I feel cycling is the biggest rip off money wise and who makes it?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Viva le thread. I'm loving it. Except we got away from nutjobs saying that monkeys could build quality carbon frames and started talking too much about golf.

I mean, what specific kind of monkeys would we be talking about here? I'd love to see a chimp with a clipboard giving a thumbs up on a fresh batch of frames. Maybe people would pay extra for that?

Much cheaper and more accessible. Same great networking.
No tee times, no dress code, doesn't have to take 5hrs, get a proper workout etc.etc.
Yeah, I remember reading those articles and thought I want to stay the hell away from those groups. The LAST thing I want to do on a ride is talk about work.

Perhaps cyclists will adopt beer at the top of each hill in deference to their golfing peers.

Need to have beer girls who ride around regular cycling routes (opposite most of the other traffic) with a refrigerated trailer of beer for sale.

Hill repeat nights always end in beer, but I need to go to it, it doesn't come to me.

Golfers are spoiled.

Won't matter now. It's been posted online so the NSA has it and SKYNET will get it from the NSA. Chimps are likely to be wiped off the face of the Earth now.

Capitalism will always be there for us to throw money at, I doesn't,t matter what product,,,I went to a fancy froo froo restaurant last Friday ( farm to table) style, it was Fixed price menu $50 per person and utterly was ok but the bill came to $160 with tip....way over priced....I didn't pay for it but it was still a rip off... Same with clothing, cars , motorcycles , watches....,Some sucker is gonna pay for it just for the hell of having it...

Can you use regular toilet bowl cleaners on a gold plated commode?

Very few things marketed to people who are enthusiasts (see all the examples above) have to cost what they MSRP for. However, they are marketed to and consumed by enthusiasts who understand nuances and details and are willing to spend the money.

Adam Smith's Invisible Hand is always the force in play. Always.

Cycling has made me a crackerjack internets troll shopper and the LBS knows it. We'll be doomed when the hot new cycling goodies appear on QVC & late night TV hawkers.
