Kestrel 200SC
 

Hey guys,

Looking for my first bike.

Would this Kestrel be a decent road bike to start off on vs some of the new crap in this price range? $400 seem like a fair price to offer?

Nice bike with a good yet very old group, but still Dura Ace. The stem has got to go, however. Is it worth $400? It should be 22 years old I would guess, so.... Bigger question, does it fit you???? Have you ridden this bike???? Take an experienced friend with you.

Great long mileage comfortable bikes. I'd pay 400 for it. Check closely for cracks, damage from dropped chains, loose seatpost mast.

I ended up buying this... enjoying it so far! I'll toss up some photos in a bit.
What kind of stem should I be looking for? 90-110 range?

A quill stem since that looks like a threaded fork. Not a lot of options but you can find a few. Or, you can use a quill stem adapter and put any modern stem on the adapter.
