Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Trek Price Cuts/Sale

I'm considering getting a Trek Madone or Domane and heard that the 2015 models are coming out next week. I know I missed the Trek summer sale, but I'm wondering if anyone knows when the next round of price cuts and/or sale will be for 2013/2014 Trek bikes. I know some bike shops started the summer sale early, can they also extend the deal? I'm fairly new to the world of cycling and I'm guessing Trek follows the same pricing schedule each year. Thanks in advance for your comments!

Probably no more sales until next year. Individual LBS may offer some good deals on closeout inventory in a few months but then you're left with the fact that they might not have your size.

Fall (September/October) usually. Many manufacturers set sale pricing windows preventing retailers from selling below a certain price until the model is considered 'closeout' and that won't happen until the 2015s arrive. Several 2015 models are already available, others are still coming.

Most LBS in this area offer a 30% off Black Friday deal. That's probably the last sale for the year.

usually around interbike, the LBS should show their discounts for inventory on hand.

Don't be surprised if popular bikes like the Madone and Domane are sold out (at least in the popular sizes) before the end of summer. If you're a cheapskate, you'll likely have better luck with lesser known brands.

Doesn't hurt to check many dealers close to you. Some have 2012 and 2013 models left at steep discounts. Many have their inventory online. Trust me, if you find exactly what you want in stock in your size, it is like Christmas!!!!
