I am a fast recretional road cyclist and am visting Historic Philadelphia in a couple of weeks. Is it worth it to bring my road bike? Are there places to ride? Parks, Are country roads far away? Anyone have any experience there? Or should I bring my trainer and ride in the hotel room?

Take your bike.....you won't regret it. If your staying in downtown area make your way to the end of market street (I think its 1800 block) and pickup the paved trail. From there you can make your way upto Fairmont Park for a 12 mile loop ride. Also look for hill rides through (sp) Maniyunk. Country roads towards Valley Forge and Exton are not too far away either.

You can also pick up the Valley forge bike trail starting at the Art Museum... If you ride all the way to the park and back it's 42 miles. Mostly flat, easy trail.

You may also want to look into nearby Bucks County. It is very scenic and historic. You can ride along the Delaware River for miles. There are some lovely back roads with climbs, covered bridges and the like. You may want to check some of the local riding clubs for some routes.

Enjoy,

Brian
