Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I rode 24.5 miles today. To WalMart and back to pick up my hubby's Rx. I was going to drive but the sun came out And sunny at 40 degrees is way warmer feeling than 40 degrees with thick cloud cover.

Today I rode 41.5 miles, i started by taking the caltrain from san jose to palo alto then fixed my bike computer problem. After that i biked from palo alto to san jose using the Guadalupe and san tomas trails. It was an interesting day, also i hung with a group of cyclists doing 22 mph for about two miles on a hybrid bike with panniers full of stuff.

Today i rode 56.6 miles from san jose to palo alto to visit my parents and then rode back. The weather was 48F with some foggy and light winds. I saw a mountain bike unicycle, it was pretty cool. I have done 500 miles in 2 weeks, impressive.

did 32 kms today.. first 50 degree day in a month... man it felt good, wish i would have stayed out a lil' longer, but things to do...

did some of the smaller, faster hills around my area to start then coasted around the downtown area.. was going to go by my bank but forgot that they were closed, so did it in vain...

only downside to today's ride: had to make an emergency stop at a 7/11 to use the restroom and it was filthy X's 1 billion...

Today i rode 38.5 miles using the Guadalupe trail and san tomas trail. The weather was 52F foggy with light winds. I took some detours to make the ride longer and i went shopping at 7-11 for powerbars and 5 hour energy shots.

just finished up 45 kms.... it was 45-49 degrees out here in Southern Colorado, but in reality it wasn't.... partly cloudy conditions coupled with fierce headwinds kept my ride pretty short, as i had planned to do at least 80 Kms... so, kinda disappointing, but whatever... felt good on the bike, did a lot of hills out of the saddle around the city...all in all not too shabby, but ya know, those headwinds get frustrating and then I got cold because I went out in a windbreaker type cycling jacket, not a thermal one..

final thought of the day... the roads here are effin' awful...

Only got in about 9 or 10 miles today round trip... had to ride in the 30 degree cold and snow to the library and return a couple books. Spent some time in there reading waiting for the temp to rise a bit.. after that I dipped by the super market... was pissed because they got rid of their bike rack, so I locked my bike up to a cart out in the front where they have a coral for them all...

After grabbing some food and throwing it in my backpack I departed... the weather only got worse however, and I was lucky I had my balaclava with me as the wind and small pieces of snow flurries were flying into my face...

Today My friend and i rode 46.4 miles from san jose to morgan hill using the Coyote creek trail. The weather was about 43F sunny with moderate winds. We stopped half way at a rest stop and talked and ate powerbars. There was alot of headwind coming back.

3rd day today riding in heat and hills to and from the TDU, my legs are toasted now.

Gorge road is long and riding bar to bar on return in groups at up to 90kph was frightening and exhilarating. Would like to have onboard video of it.
This is on the way up early before the race came through.

Hot babe on a Delta 7.

Cadel leads but finished the stage second. Some riders looked as if they would walk, so shagged.

On the way back to town a constant stream of hundred's of riders.

Today i rode 75.5 miles from san jose to palo alto then over the dumbarton bridge in to fremont and all the way back. The weather was 43F sunny with moderate winds. It was a tough ride with the wind, heaviness of the fully loaded down bike and the elevation changes. Soon i will do another century, just practicing and breaking in a new saddle.

Broke yesterdays personal best. 12.85 mi yesterday 18.15 today.

Went around Santee and El Cajon, CA. I finally found some good road. In El Cajon I was doing 22 on the flats. I'm planning a route that my rough guess is 27 mi.

Riding over the Dumbarton Bridge seems scary. I wouldn't imagine people are use to seeing riders on the bridge. Is it as bad as I imagine?

Not too exciting here. I rode my CX bike over China Camp in Marin County yesterday. It was 17 miles on road and fireroad. Today I did a quick look around China Camp on the road with my road bike and it was 15 miles.

This winter has been great for riding. We just need more rain!

The bike lane on the dumbarton bridge is separated with a wall from the highway, its a little narrow but its passable. Just watch out for club carts parked on it.
