Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cool thread, just found it.

I rode two hours around the hills in the city today, was in the dark for 1.5 hour but it was a good time. Then on the way home I laughed at rush hour commuters on the 51.

past three days riding:

Friday - 67 kms all over westside of town and thru some very hilly mountainous areas bout 5 hours worth of work... had a stop at the bike shop for gels for a minute, started talking cassettes w/ a service mech.

Saturday - 70 kms more laid back of a ride.. mostly spinning the legs, but mixed in a few hills as well.. was out there a good 4 hours and change..

today - 16 kms, very quick ride, just over an hour long, first 30 minutes rode into fierce winds on the flat, last 30 minutes is a very good hill, that is long enough to get your legs goin.

Rode through the miserable winter weather in Scottsdale today. It got so warm by about 10am that we all were shedding our knee/arm warmers.

I miss Phoenix I'm trying to workout where you took that first picture. I'm guessing near Squaw peak!

Today was a bad day, i rode 30+ miles plus a train ride. It was raining but not hard so i rode the guadalupe trail but the under pass was flooded. I though maybe a foot so i though to cross it but it was actually 4.5 ft deep, it sucked me in. I got across barely and had to do it four more underpasses. Then i took the way that i know to palo alto and took the train back to san jose, i was freezing cold soaked for 3.5 hrs. Now my iphone and bike computer are destroyed.

Past Lincoln Marsh, wind chill was probably 20 degrees. Not many rides left in the season here, we had snow on the ground last week but it warmed up a little.

Today i rode 25 miles using the Guadalupe trail from san jose to sunnyvale, the underpasses are now safe to pass. I rode without music and no bike computer. I felt a little bit lonely with out technology, but it was a good ride.

Today i took the long way back home, 28 miles from palo alto to san jose. I got another bike computer and bought some more innertubes. I have about 1893 miles in 10 months of riding my road bike.

Today i rode 50.7 miles using the guadalupe trail twice and the weather was foggy and partly cloudy with light winds. There were rc airplanes flying at the nearby park i passed. I counted about 40 or so cyclists on the trail. I am almost to 2000 miles on my road bike.

put up 82 kms today... spun it all over the city and back... had some great weather today in southern CO, and by great I mean it was partly cloudy, high of 56 or so and some minor headwinds....

overall a really nice day to ride though....I left my house at 9am and didn't get back til about 1:30...
