My 07 CR1 is now wall art:D, I'am not sure what started all of the carnage , but pictures speaks a thousand words, the rear derailleur is twisted and cracked , and my wife wonders why I have 2 extra bikes ;) and now for some cool pics

Did you shift into the spokes or did the parts all just implode simultaneously?

If you love the bike, you can talk to Calfee about getting it fixed. Otherwise, does Scott have a crash replacement policy?

Though I often care less about me than the bike. I popped a tire the other night & wife asked if I was ok.

I said, "Ya, bike's OK I didn't lay it down."

She retorted with....."No, are YOU Ok!?!".

I said, "Oh ya, I'm fine." ;)

So, now you can tell the wife, "Hey, you always wanted me to get rid of one of the bikes, right? There ya go! Can I replace it tomorrow?" :p

It locked up and I unclipped just in time , Its already apart and really not worth the hassle of getting it fixed, its sorta like after a car is wrecked its never really the same , I had just did a descent at 38mph, so the good Lord was on my side !

Looks like the braze on ripped out of the carbon fiber tube. Nothing to do with Shimano.

And that tube looks round. Why wouldn't you (the OP) just slap on a clamp-on front derailler? Seems like a simple fix.

if i could ascend a mountain at 38mph i wouldn't be paying for new bikes....

I'm guessing RD into the spokes, pulls the chain to the outside as it goes, ripping the braze-on out of the frame.

My guess is that its totally recoverable. Clamp-on FD, new hanger & RD, and you're probably good to go. There's likely some damage to the seat tube, but it looks like it ripped out pretty cleanly and wouldn't compromise the strength. You'd want a more detailed inspection to confirm that though. Basically, check for any weakness around and especially between the holes. It becomes an ideal beater.

Did the rear derailleur get into the wheel? Glad you got off without getting wrecked as badly as the bike.
Told to the Minister of Finance as see when the replacement is being ordered.

It looks like the braze on just ripped off the carbon tube getting the chain caught in the crank arm/pedal while pedaling pulling the rear derailleur off. But who knows, weird.

Doesnt help OP one bit but CR1's after 2010 had the detachable DRH :) When I was looking to buy my 2012 CR1 people were still telling me not too because of the non- detachable DRH.

Seriously sucks but good you're ok. Were you shifting when it occurred or was it all spontaneous. Do you recall where the abnormal sound began? Front or rear? Don't think I'd want to clamp an FD on that tube even after repaired.

I got lucky , the chain wegded in the back of the cassette and the base of the hub , the spokes do not look damaged but I will have the LBS check it out , this was the only third time out on the new wheelset too ! Heres a picture from a few weeks ago when all was well, :D

The hanger is still there so there's a good chance it can be salvaged.

I was doing a steady Candace and no shifting ..........then KA-----BAM ! I'am real finicky about my bike maintance and how clean they are , I try to look 'um over after each ride , it would just bug me to much to piece it back together, its toast , put a fork in it , lol
