Not that there's anything wrong with riding a steel fixie with no brakes I guess...but jesus... Some pretty cringeworthy moments.

I watched this last night also. With a cool beverage while I folded laundry.
IMO:
It was cringe worthy at times. But in all not as awful as I expected, there was a continuous plot. Acting was not awful, character depth was a bit lacking and the purpose of the delivery was a long winded in explanation. I enjoyed to use of time and clearly switching back and forward in time to explain the story; many movies do not do this well.
Overall it was fun to watch.

I don't believe this movie was popular enough to influence anyone about a certain cross section of society. I am pretty certain that the hipster perception did not come from anyone seeing this movie.

People still talk about hipsters? It's 2014. Has the term reach the mainstream like Twerking and "basic"?
Fun movie. Came in jaded, and came out smiling. Lotsa cameos for those who work. One of the best guys ever does stuntwork for JGL, who is a pretty cool guy himself.

I've watched it twice. It's forgettable enough that I couldn't remember watching it the first time until I was into it a ways. It was more background noise than a movie I actively viewed.

Haha yeah the movie was OK actually just some of those moments and his declaration at the end that fixed gear on a steel frame with brakes is the only way for him ad he rides his bullhorns off into the sunset. I think I spent too much time in Portland this summer

So I broke down and watched this yesterday. A bit cheesy at times, but I have to admit - I didn't hate it. It had its moments for sure. You just can't take it too seriously.
