Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looking for a soft shell cycling vest

I am looking for a soft fabric based (not nylon) cycling vest. I have two of the older style vests made from some nylon like fabric that is soft but does not conform to body and flaps in the wind. I want something that does not flap at all like a good jersey.

Any brands/recommendations?

Thanks

I've been using the Castelli Fawesome for about a year and I really
Ike it. It's made from same material as their Gabba Jersey. It's definitively a fall/winter/early srping not a summer vest - at least for me. And it's on sale at cc

Thanks,

Did you find the sizing on their website to be accurate?

I guess so, hard to answer as I am familiar with castelli fit. It tends to be little tighter than other brands. I wear a medium castelli jersey ( small in many other brands) and got the medium vest. It fits nice a close like a jersey but still stretchy enough for me to a jersey beneath with loaded pockets. Hope this helps; fit is always complicated. This one also looks interesting, used other de marchi products and never been dissapomnited

Thanks, that seems to be a good one. I just ordered one in XL (43 inch chest), I will report back on how it fits when i get it.

What is the fabric like on the back? Is wind/water resistant like the front or easily permeable to air a moisture? You can just put your lips on it and try to blow through the fabric and see how it compares to the front.

The fabric is nice and similar to front but w/o the wind resistance, so lighter in back than front. I believe it's water resistant.
