Hmmm I don't wear gloves for protection...that just something I've never done while riding a bike in my life. I do have some thin cotton gloves that I wear when the temp gets below about 45F...

For me it goes like this below 55F I wear a jacket, below 45F I wear gloves and a jacket...it if is much below 40F I don't ride since I only want to ride when it is fairly comfortable and I only wear shorts. I do live in Calif so the days below 40F are pretty limited.

Gloves for protection yeah I suppose I could see but the only fall I've had at speed I never got my hands off the bars...I went down too fast when I was cut off

I came to the conclusion that I had too much crap to get ready for each ride, so something had to go.

It was either gloves or butt cream.

I like my butt, but some guys need their palms in good shape. It's a personal choice.

I can attest to the fact that they still do. It's also a hell of a lot more pleasant to brush trash off your front tire with your glove than with your palm!

I wear full finger pretty much all the time. If it get too hot on a climb...I'll take them off and put them back on at the top. When it gets cold I have a pair of Specialized gloves that block the wind.

Same when I ride my mountain bikes. When I ride the full suspension...my gloves have padding on the knuckles. Hardtail...I wear leather gloves.

Its all about protecting the hands for me.

I just use my foot.

It's only September?

I hate gloves, but you won't see me wearing leg/arm warmers. I wear gloves only in the Winter. I wear shorts until it hits lower 40s. Worse scenario is heavy rain with heavy wind just above freezing point. Snow is better than that. I don't mind low temperatures. It's the wind that's the problem, so cheap nylon works fine.

gloves for cycling, yes. glove on trigger-finger hand for Quail/pheasant hunting, no.

for colder riding, cheap jersey gloves, summer months half finger.

I wear full finger gloves year round. Sun protection, extra grip on my bar tape which is very slick when wet and sweat removal are primary reasons. Secondary reasons are clean hands if I tinker.
I wash them regularly. I lose them about every 1.5 years. I stitch them as needed.

I have a pair of ski gloves for warmth in the winter.

Full fingered gloves always....thin & comfortable, with a swede facing on the palm side. I like my skin.

I lost so much skin from my palms when I was hit by the car that I don't ride without them. I suffered for a while with the hand problems.

Cold weather, yes. Otherwise, no gloves. I remind myself each time that it would be nice to protect my hands in case of a crash, but I'm just not comfortable with gloves on. I have Lizardskins DSP tape on the bar, and it's so friggin great that gloves are not needed.
