Thoughts on non-kit wearing cyclist.

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Definitely. The first time Rydabent comes toodling past him on a recumbent trike in the troll race he'll run screaming back to his mother.

That kid used to be me. I rode a very banged up looking (but otherwise well maintained) Peugeot PX-10, a very hot bike for its time. I commuted 22 miles a day 200+ days a year, so I was in great shape. Be a competitive *******, I loved biking on weekends and smoking the guys in kits (I called them "clown suits") in cutoffs and a ripped T-shirt (hey, it was the punk rock era) uphill.

I have grown up a little, but not enough, since. I still hate getting passed.

I am happy that I have neater kit, no flapping fabric and such, but I wish I were as carefree.
Sometimes I AM 'carefree' and ride without cleats, in normal street clothes and no helmet, but that's only when I'm going up to the shop - a short, flat, mostly separated route and no occasion to exceed 15mph, so I've never passed anyone who's been in full kit like that.
