Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cycling jersey folds outwards?

I recently just bought a cycling jersey and when I tried it on, as soon as I bend my body forwards, the jersey would fold itself outwards making a big lump in the jersey which is kind of weird and I have been unable to find a solution for this
I was just wondering whether the is a way to stop the jersey from constantly folding outwards as soon as I bend down, really disturbing.
Thanks!

Jerseys should be snug fitting, not loose. "Folds itself outwards" is an interesting description. May we get a picture of this phenomenon?

I have a Hincapie jersey that does what I think you are talking about. I think it's because (1) the material is SPF rated and a bit thicker than some other jerseys I own and (2) the zipper is a thicker heavier type. If I am standing up straight it lies flat. When I lean over it bumps out along the lower half. But once I am riding it's a comfortable jersey. Breaths well in hot weather. Nobody is taking pictures of me to sell their product so I just use the jersey and don't worry about it.

It sounds to me like the jersey is too big for you.

I have a few full zip jerseys that do this. I prefer a full zip but it does not happen on the half zip ones. I agree that it's probably a bit big as well.

Sounds like the jersey is new as well. It is very possible this issue will go away, or at least diminish once the fabric breaks in due to use. Sounds to me like the fabric used for the zipper is stiff, which is not rare.

Get on the bike and worry not.

Also could be club fit vs race fit. Club fit is a bit looser and cut for a more upright position. Race fit is snugger and cut for a lower position on the bike. Often race fit jerseys will pull down at the neck and up at the waist when standing upright, but fit smoothly when bent forward in a road bike position.
