Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Everyone still satisfied with their Cateye wireless? (CD300DW)

Just ordered one from performance Sunday and, if they do the price match, I'll score one for $100. Just curious if all you people who had such glowing reviews have found any problems now that the honeymoon is over...

Still love mine - only thing I don't like is that when you start you have to hit a button to take it out of sleep mode, it's not truly autostart. (either that or I need to re-read the directions).

I like mine too. And I like that you have to hit the button to start it, because I have to walk my bike a ways to get to the road, so it doesn't affect my avg speed as much.

I put one on my wife's bike. She really likes it, but I was frustrated as hell with the installation directions. It's very difficult to make any sense out of it.

Anyone have problems with either interference to analog (non-coded) HRMs, or with interference from overhead AC lines? Other threads here and on roadbikereview suggested these could be problems and have put me off from buying this comuter.

That's interesting. I was about to buy one but cateye customer support told me they officially do not recommend their wireless computers with HRM's . .so I backed off. It sounds like they actually work fine together in practice.

Polar, however, now has the wireless CS100+CS200 on their global site and tell me that those will be ready late April. (Believe it when I see it). Suggested retail under $80 for the CS100 and $159 for the CS200. Wireless cadence approx $39. I'm hoping that will be the do-it all for me.

Have had one for 2 yrs + No problems, flawless performance. I do not, however, use a HRM so I can't speak to possible problems in that area.

Great computer. I didn't have any conflicts with my HRM until I installed some FSA K-Wing Carbon bars...I have no idea why this caused a problem...bit it did. Now I can't use my Polar on my bike...weird. For those of you who doubt me, I used them together for 5 months with no problems. The conflict showed up the first ride that I used the new bars.

On the auto start... I had to make sure my wireless cateye (can't remember which model) was set up for outo... On mine I see an "A" on the screed that obviously indicates "auto".
I actually bought the cateye because the two other wireless computers I picked up lacke d it........... what a waste of a computer, not having auto start.

I'm probably in the minority, but I don't like mine. It may be due to conflicts between my HRM (Polar S625X) and the wireless bike computer. I've found that at times either the cadence or speed would drop to 0 for no reason. I'd be willing to sell mine for $100 shipped if someone wants it and will pay through PayPal. PM me if you're interested, first come, first served

I just started using mine. Like it so far. The cadence is really helping me. No problems interference problems. But I don't ride with a HR monitor. To soon for me to talk about battery life. The instruction manual could definitely use some work.

Got mine off of ebay for $98.

Well, if any of you are not satisfied with your Cateye CD300DW for some reason, I am building my wifes bike, and I am looking for one to use on hers too. Let me know if you don't want it, and I'll take it off your hands for a decent price, if it is good condition. If I can pick one up used, rather than $105 on Ebay, then I think I would prefer it. Thanks.

I love my CD300DW!!! I have had no problems with interference between it and my HRM. I have had power lines screw up the reading on my HRM but never on my DW. Great computer!!!

I've had mine for quite some months now, and still love it. Finally had to change a couple of batteries in the display unit. Just for information - I don't believe this is covered in the manual. If the bottom part of the display starts blinking, you need to change the batteries in the display unit, and if the top of the display is blinking it is the sensor unit in need to a battery change. I found that out by calling the manufacturer.

Zack, have you tried changing the discreet code on the unit? I was having the same problem at first, and a call to Cateye generated the solution - a change in code. I never again had the problem.

i've been looking at this model for some time. Just to clarify:

'Auto start' means it takes time and distance from when I'm rolling. So if i stop at a light, all timing stops until the wheels are rolling again?

I have a cheap Supergo with this feature and love it!

I really like my CD300DW even though it's more computer than I need. The only problem I've run into, other than operator error, is that every once in a while I'll be filling out my log and notice that my max cadence was in the 190s. Monday it was 193. Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure that's not right. Especially since my max is normally around 120. I don't use an HRM, so it's not interference from that. If it is interference, the max cadence is the only thing that seems to be affected.

Remember, if you ride in groups, you can be affected by the HRM or computer of another rider. Also various other radio frequency types of interference abound. Try changing the discreet code which helped me in both speed and cadence issues.

Loved my CD300DW till i put the carbon bars also!!! Now my HR monitor causes glitches on my Cateye. I am even using the coded chest strap. The unit is only about 3 months old. I will sell this unit for $85.00 shipped in CONUS. PM me if you are interested.

Interesting phenomenon in that I use mine on FSA K-Wings and a Polar HRM with no interference.
