My best friend from highschool/best man at my wedding is a tattoo artist, but I haven't gotten any new work in a decade. Actually, I need to have my old stuff touched up.

I think the inside of the right calf is a better choice. What is more bad ass than grease marks? The whole chainring mark!

That is nice looking.

Thanks! I chose the outside of my left leg so when I'm riding, people in cars and/or other cyclists can see it. She did a really nice job...although with the discomfort as I was getting it, I think I'm "one and done!"

My next one is the ANSI Danger Pinch Point warning on my right calf.

Also, 5 bolt chain rings are so 2013.

Calf tattoo is easy peasy.

Hmmm, at age 57, you looking for the fountain of middle age?

merlinextraligh 10-07-14 03:32 PM

Most people try to avoid Cat 5 tattoos

Lazyass 10-07-14 03:39 PM

I got my Airborne tattoo in the 80's before tats became mainstream. Now that everyone has one I don't want mine anymore.

Looigi 10-07-14 03:42 PM

The temptation in my mid 50s was really strong, but fortunately I made it through without getting one.

freedomrider1 10-07-14 03:45 PM

Thank you for your service Lazy.

They try, but some of us keep getting them anyway. Last week, I managed to give myself a double chainring without even giving myself a chain mark. Now that takes talent.

How 'bout Cat 6?

Martian63 10-07-14 04:11 PM

"like"

Got my Bulldog tat right after boot camp in 87' and and an eagle at my first duty station 88'. Both show their age for sure. Have not got another one since but I think about it a lot. The chain ring looks good but now its got me thinking.

robbyville 10-07-14 04:33 PM

Very cool, and good for you so long as you're happy with it. A long time ago I promised myself that I was going to get one tattoo and one only that was meaningful. I knew it would have to do with cycling since I wouldn't have been in the position I was then or now if it wasn't for a bike tour I took through New England back in 1985 that turned me into a bike mechanic and got me into sporting goods and then the ski industry. It took a long time and then back in 1993 I stumbled upon the original patent diagram from the first rear derailleur. I knew immediately that that was what I wanted, have it on the back of my shoulder.

Maybe, but it's a goddam 60 tooth! He's a beast, see...

Campag4life 10-07-14 04:49 PM

I hate tattoos...especially on legs. They suck.

joeyduck 10-07-14 04:54 PM

My wife came home with my name on her lower back after a trip with the girls.

I was not happy and did not like it. Then after a few seconds I realized it was not irritated nor red. It was actually airbrushed and looked fairly real.

So I suggest someone toying with the idea of a tatoo to get it airbrushed and see if they and those important to them like it.

Then again I am a 75 year old curmudgeon in a 34 year old's body.

Cycling related tattoos are awesome. I have handlebars on my lower back.

popeye 10-07-14 05:29 PM

A mid age inlaw of mine got a little tat on her calf and was dead in 2 days from a bad reaction.
