Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There are no other colors besides black or green? If you order the black one then you are defeating the reason for ordering the green one. The black one might get a little warm in the summer.

I've used Giro Monzas for years so the vent pattern has remained constant (though they changed design of roc-loc). Prior to the yellow one I had a Blue/white one. The increase in the number of insect/vent/bald head interfaces was noticeable with the yellow helmet. I got quite adept at brakingwith my left hand, unclipping and removing helmet with right before I came to a stop!

Changed to black/white Monza before summer and number of insect strikes decreased, and since I spent 3 months cycling in French countryside I was in a prime area for it, though some of the wasps (the Asiatic Frelon) would be too big to go into the vents I think!!

Nope! Yellow and black. I learnt that in an advertising/marketing class in B-School.

The goal is to get eyes/people to notice without sensory overload.

So, I received the helmet today. Just tried it on and adjusted it and based on that, it's the most comfortable and lightest helmet I've ever worn. I didn't bother looking in the mirror though. :-D I'll let you know how it feels after tomorrow's ride but right now, I'm not regretting it at all. The color isn't too bad either. It's bright but then again, that can only help, right?

If you went to A+School you may have learned the correct ones.

Personally, I like it but if you got it for $100 off, how much did you pay for it? It sounds quite expensive.

White would be visible too, which is why I prefer white bikes. But that shade of green only appears on fire trucks and safety gear so it should be an instant BEWARE signal and will not blend in easily with background colors. I have a difficult time finding helmets that fit and finally purchased a white/orange Giro Saros, which I find extremely comfortable and a good fit.

I paid $134 for it. Regularly $234. My Giro was about the same price (as what I paid on sale for this one). I like it. A lot. Wayyyy lighter than my Giro, which I bought about a year ago and is nice but not that comfortable. Gonna use the old helmet for mountain biking.

White does reflect the most light, but it can blend in with things. Riding past a white house, white fence, etc. White is a color found in nature, so it doesn't stand out in the same way as the neon colors. Red may be good in full sun, but in dusk, overcase or fog red is one of the first colors to disappear. I'm told old-school cat-burglars would often wear a red shirt. It disappears in the dark but if you're questioned by police just say "how would I be sneaking in anywhere, I'm wearing RED after all!"

Neon green, yellow, orange ARE the best as those cops have found out. The color catches the eye, stands out on 99% of backgrounds you are likely to be riding near and is visible in almost any light!
