Am I going to regret buying this?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Am I going to regret buying this?

Not the helmet, the color. It arrives tomorrow. I didn't think for a second about the color. I just figured neon green would be more visible. But now I'm having visions of looking like there's an alien blob on my head. I suppose that will still make me visible, but I'm not sure that's the look I'm after. I'm thinking of just going ahead and ordering the black one and then just shipping the green one back as soon as I get it. Am I overthinking this? The best part about it is it was $100 off regular price.

Small things in the grand (green?) scheme of things, but these are what one thinks of on those days when you know you will not be able to get out on a ride. If you can see through to giving me some advice, I'd be grateful. Normally I'm not the person that gives a lot of thought to what I'm wearing on the bike. Matching shorts and shirtsis pretty much where I start and stop, but every time I imagine myself in the green helmet, it makes me chuckle.

Gay.

White helmets are among the most visible. Red I believe is the next. That fluorescent colour that traffic cops wear is also something that drivers have become very alert to.

My helmet is white, and fluorescent clothes I choose are that "traffic cop green" colour:

Large helmets are the only thing that looks like the aliend vibe to me.

I believe yellow is the first colour the eye sees, esp in adverse conditions. That is why the lines on the road went from white to yellow ages ago.

Those neon colours are called hi-vis for a reason.

Yep! Yellow and black (together) is the most effective color for outdoor advertising, posters etc.

I'd go with white as I don't like the hi vis color much and I've easily seen people walking wearing white shorts from 1/2 to 3/4 mile away at an instant.

As for that helmet, the design reminds me of that picture floating around the internet of a woman's nipple with tons of tiny baby spiders crawling out of enlarged pores (which also gives me nightmares and prevents sleep at times) and I would get nauseous each time I were to look at that helmet. You'll know what I'm talking about if you've seen it. If not look it up for yourself, not many images gross me out but this one takes the cake for me for some reason. Must be the reason for the $100 off!

It's a helmet. Once it is on your head, you won't see it again. As long as it fits well enough to perform it's function, I would never give it a second thought.

I have been wearing that exact helmet, exact colour for over a year. I also ordered my P1 Domane in same neon colour. I call it my Shrek, neon is good, better to be seen in my book.

Uh, he's (or was) paid to wear those colors, didn't have much of a choice. Imagine what he could do wearing REAL fast colors!

I'll never buy a yellow helmet again! They are a magnet for wasps (yellowjackets)

I've never had so many fly into my vents. Nightmare! I've now swapped to a black and white Monza.

That thing looks like a giant green wasp's nest. All I imagine when I look at is a bunch of big insects crawling out of those goofy looking vents.

Exactly.

I have the matte red version. It's very comfortable.

I have a neon green helmet and when it comes time to replace it I'll probably get another one. Looks good and is easy to see in all weather including fog.

Probably more to do with vent design/shape, than color. Tape over the front holes.

Plastidip it if you are truly feeling self conscious about it.

Other than that just wear it for its purpose:not cracking your head open, and giving yourself a sweet hairdo after a ride.

Makes me wonder... Am I the only one who gets 3M reflective tape, and puts it on the helmet for additional reflectivity? (In case you're wondering, I do almost all of my riding in pre-dawn hours, so visibility is a very large concern.)

I read somewhere long time ago that white helmets are the most visible. That most visible clothes are hi-vis (green, or red). And that most visible vehicles are red coloured ones. Something to do with shape, size, movement, even height I suppose, since helmet was white, not red or fluo. And I guess that doesn't go for winter and snow as well, but not sure.
