I fillet my hotdogs, fry them until they are all curled up, then pile on the sauerkraut and mustard.
And everyone knows ketchup goes on meatloaf, not hotdogs.

I have some bicycling shorts and tights and wear them on all my rides. But do I really need to if I"m only doing an hour or 2? I do it because I'd have to wear some type of shorts anyway so why not? Also, what about in the winter? People are talking about wearing long underwear under their tights. Why not the same situation there?

Even my track club singlet could stick to me. Back then, there was a Kramer product called Skin Lube that we used. Green paste in a pound jar. My singlet had permanent green stains over my nipples.

Are those that wear underwear under their bibs more likely to wave?

Wow.....this thing is still going? You KNOW it's off-season here in the 41 if this is going on.
FWIW, I raced that crit last night for all it was worth. After about 20 minutes of 95% effort it's hard to say I felt any different but a couple differences I noticed.
1.) Cooler to start. Definitely a nice breeze to cool off the twig & berries before working up some body heat
2.) More in touch with what's going on down there. If anything moves....you know it.
Aside from that, if I'm being totally honest, not much else. I'd say I'll continue going commando cuz it didn't seem to make enough of a difference & I'm sure I can save a few grams, right? (WW's unite)
Last night was about 30 miles total, 17 of which was gut busting, thigh burning crit racing but the buns still burn after a while. It's just a deeper tissue burn from tightening wrenching the core to produce as much power whilst on the saddle as possible.
Next up will be to test for endurance. I'll do a 50-60 mile jaunt "commando" and we'll see.

Hygene? I thought the issue was chafing. If you have a thinner, looser inner layer of fabric, it will tend to bunch and eventually chafe. But I suppose if a guy's tighty whities (like the OP's, perhaps) are sufficiently snug, elastic and compatible with whatever outerwear shorts he has, it wouldn't be an issue. And also, I don't think it's an issue if one is riding for less than an hour and doesn't move around too much.
