Looking at Novatec Wheels wondering if anyone has used them

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looking at Novatec Wheels wondering if anyone has used them

I am in need of a new set of wheels and was sold pretty hard by the LBS on these. What is your take on Novatec Wheels? They seem to be inexpensive but will they last?

I am guessing I have an answer. They are not worth the time and effort.

They are bigger in the MTB scene with guys like Lopez using them for years. They also do better with some of the carbon stuff in the tri market (again, more in Europe). That alloy pricepoint you are looking at is a pretty saturated market and they've never gained any real market share in North America.

If you're in NA, contact Henry at Novatec USA. He can give you the lowdown on the wheels and where you can buy them.

I've used 10 and 11 speed Novatec hubs built on custom wheels, they are excellent and cheap. No experience with their wheels, so don't know who provides their rims, but I'd guess they're taiwanese as opposed to mainland china, therefore likely reliable.
