Brain Cells Required to Spin Wheels
 

I'm thinking some wheres between 53 and 11 would be the requirement. Anybody have any software to support or negate this? :rolleyes:

I just whipped up a quick Neural Network consisting of your upper limit of 53 artificial, computer simulated brain cells, complete with neurons, dendrites, and axons and all those other nifty brain cell attachments and unfortunately the results were inconclusive.

More testing may yield a more positive answer.

Ok well if I really think this one through we might be able to get an answer. My initial guess is in the realm of 1000 to 2000 brain cells per leg or more. If all that is required to fulfill "Spin Wheels" is that the legs move in the correct pattern to "Spin Wheels", discounting any need for balance, steering, or any other action on the part of the brain, then I think those above numbers might do it.


You can train a small neural network (of 1000 to 2000 nodes) to recognize one or maybe two letters. I think it would thus be possible to take that same network and have it recognize a proper pattern of signals to send to the legs in order to get them to "spin wheels". I may be off a bit though. I'm not an expert on these Neural Networks, and for sure IANANS (I am not a Neuro-Scientist). Heck, I don't even ride a bike yet!

Before I started asking questions about wheels everybody in this forum thought high-end boutique wheels were the holy grail of speed.

if you have a problem with 53-11 why don't you PM him and handle it between the two of you. using a thread to personally attack another forum member, through some lame attempt at humor, is pretty cowardly.

Nicely said - wasn't sure how to weigh in on this but couldn't have said that better (or, frankly, as well) myself.

Personally, I like 53-11s posts, a lot - it's interesting to look at cycling from a more logical standpoint than my usual drooling, gotta-have-it gearhead position.
