Why is CAMPAGNOLO so expensive ?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That is a fun (and sometimes useful) trick. I've been spending a lot more time in the drops lately (a sign it's time to lower the stem?), so I haven't used it all that much, but it's nice to have that option sometimes.

Something else that I've noticed between my Record and Ultegra stuff is that the Record hoods aren't near as slippery as the Ultegra hoods because of the stippling in the Record's rubber. I don't wear gloves, never have, and have trouble in the heat and humidity with the slimy, wet Ultegra hoods.

Campagnolo has stated that Record is aimed at Dura Ace. You can think what you want, but you didn't design the products or develop the marketing strategy. So, until new information comes along, I believe what the manufacturer said.

By that logic:
Ultegra=record
105=Chorus

.....hell no.

Like somebody mentioned before SR, is a clever marketing exercise by campagnolo to squeeze some extra money from die hard fans.

Nope. More like Ultegra=Chorus and 105=Athena. I built a steel Bianchi with Athena silver and even with the carbon shifters and upgraded brakes it came out to just over $500.
