New to biking and want to buy a good bike.

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New to biking and want to buy a good bike.

So I want to buy a decent bike for the money to spend, I don't have over $1000 to spend.
These are the bikes I'm thinking of getting, can anyone give me opinions on if the frames are good and are worth their money/if the brand is good and such.

I did, they only have road bikes that are over $2000. Which is ridiculous.

I live in Australia and I've been told by many people it'd just be easier to buy from Gumtree, but that Cell bike is in my price range and it looks nice, is it worth the pick up though do you think?

If you have mates who cycle and are familiar with the mechanics / structural integrity of bicycles, you may want to consider a used bike....take along someone who knows what they are doing with you when you find one you like. You can purchase a lot of used bike for 1k.

My bike, which is now four years old and has 15,000 miles and cost $800 US new. Were I to sell it today it would bring, probably half that. This indicates that a decent quality bike can be found, with a bit of time to shop, for a very reasonable price so that considering a used bike is a good idea. The best bike for you will fit comfortably, be in the right price range and do all the things you would a bike to do. It should also be said that there are many well know brands of bikes in the $400 or so price range that also will work fine for you but will not have racing performance but will be durable.

Well you did ask for a "good" bike. In biking lingo that's just slightly about the approximate $1,500 for a good bike. If you want to pay less, refer in terms of budget rather than the terminology. A quality entry level bike would begin at around $500 or so.
