Heritage bikes- Market it and they will come

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Market something by attaching a lifestyle appeal and people will buy it. (see Apple products)

Obviously targeting the "hipster" / trendy lifestyle

Why Beyonce & Jay Z like these bikes - Video - Luxury

Projected revenue of over 1.6 million is not bad

and just to make sure that this threads belongs in the "41".. how many of you would wear your Team Sky kit and Aero helmet while riding one of these?

Good luck to him! That woman looked like she hadn't ridden a bike in 20+ years so if this sort of thing gets more people on bikes then I'm a fan. It would have to have some pretty ferocious gearing to work from my house though.

Besides, there's something to be said for a city bike that you can tool around on and run errands. A better question - would you leaved this locked outside (wherever you were going) for more than 20 minutes?

No offense to OP,

But could anyone else not care less about Beyonce and Jay-Z's opinion on bicycles?

Neat looking bikes. Don't seem too different from an other indy manufacturer.

They're city bikes and have their place. I don't use my road bike to run errands, pick up groceries etc.

or read Cannondale’s web page on the SuperSix
Obviously targeting the “Road Racer” / fit trendy lifestyle

It’s not what you ride but that you ride.

This guy has found away to sell coffee and bikes he employees people and gets more people pedaling thats a win win.

I only have a vague idea of who Jay Z and Beyonce are; but pretty much, them wanting anything would be a good indication of it being something that I'd never want.

On 300 bikes/year, he must be selling a LOT of coffee to bring in that much.

Not that I'm in the market for a $1500 townie bike, but maybe there's an element to his business model that makes sense; should an LBS also have a coffee counter?
