Replacement for Specialized Secteur Compact

1 Attachment(s)
My regular commute takes me down a road with several parked cars along the side of the road. This morning, one of those cars pulled out and I ended up hitting its front quarter and did an end-over-end. The bike is a write-off, but the driver said he would pay for my bike. I figured I would take cash for the value of my bike and look for opportunities for an upgrade. I don't want a huge improvement but was wondering what options are comparable to my old ride for a few hundred more dollars.

Thoughts?

your priorities should be:

1) go to doctor get checked out
2) worry about replacing bike

hopefully you got the guys insurance information etc.

Roubaix. Same geometry + carbon.

Got the driver's info and already went to the hospital. My wife is a physician and she checked me out.

Roubaix is definitely on the list. Any other makes?

You could get replacement value for bike from driver, then buy a new frame from Specialized under the crash replacement policy. Pocket remainder.

Other than that, I second the Roubaix recommendation especially if you really liked the fit of your Secteur. Domane is supposed to be excellent too.

+1 on checking out the price of a Secteur or Roubaix frame via the crash replacement program.

In other brands: Cannondale Synapse, Giant Defy, Fuji Grand Fondo.

ride all of the performance endurance frames in your area and pick the one you like the feel of the best...

Never knew about this program--I'll have to look into it with my LBS. Thanks!

It's 20% off of retail for the replacement, and you turn in the old frame. I know from experience it also applies to handlebars and helmets.
