Addiction XLV
:innocent:

So soon?
|
Come back after midnight.
Tired. Hitting the sack. |
Understandable. I am sure you had a hard ride today. :innocent:
|
What did I tell you? Old folks turn in early.
|
Speaking of which...yawn....
|
Standing in the cold for hours (waiting for eagles to show up) is surprisingly tiring.

No worries, Bunny. Here is your plan B, the Breathless Agony: Breathless Agony Bike Ride Home Page
114 miles, 12000 ft of climbing. It's only timed up to Onyx Summit, which is up near Big Bear. Basically it is Redlands, climb up to Big Bear & then descend back down. It's 77 miles to the top, basically in two climbs. One around 20 miles & one around 35 miles. You can get some altitude issues with this one, Onyx Summit is around 8200 ft. Magic Bike aka the BMC GF01 is 17.4 pounds without all the gear on it (ie saddle bag, water bottles, dashboard genie, hand pump, Garmins) but with pedals & saddle. About 130ish grams/4ish oz less with new tires. The Sparrow aka the Trek Madone is 16.8 pounds, outfitted similarly. It would be about 100 gm/3.5 ounces heavier with the new wheels. But this bike is not going on MC, wrong gearing, wrong saddle and sort-of wrong bars. If your seat post is over 200g, this could be a big savings. As some are close to 120g, or 150g for still pretty cheap. I plan on trying to make a sub 100g seat post when I get the time. Bars and stem don't matter that much, as alloy bars can be lighter than carbon components. Although some steams can be unnecessarily heavy, upwards of 150g seems in excess. Kalloy Uno Al 7050 Ultra Light Weight Stem 31 8 7 Degree Black | eBay This is probably too noodly for some sprinters, or heaver people. It is about 110g for 100 mm length with steel bolts, probably sub 100g with titanium. I am a big fan of the 160g saddles from Fizik, but they can be pretty expensive. I run a cheap full carbon seat, it is under 100g and I don't mind it. Brakes have a huge range all over the board, but the Planet X brakes have had some decent reviews. My favorite is my custom made titanium speedplay pedals, about 170g for the pair and cost less than $100. Other than a lighter cable set and housing, it gets really expensive past there. |
You people are mean.

I have found a lot of ways to cheaply lighten up my bike.

I'm so glad I'm not a WW. It sounds so expensive!

People are too nice in addiction. Ironic considering how it started with the grumpiest old man on bf.
I say we revert back to airing grievances. |
