Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

cannondale super six evo vs cervelo R3

Hi, for about the same price, i can have a supersix evo 2015 (frame 2015, brand new) on sram red (2013-2014 not the 22 version) the sram has about 1 complete season 5000 miles max) (with carbon wheels 38mm from china.

Or cervelo R3 frame 2014 (400 miles only) on complete dura ace 9000 even the crankset . With ksyrium sl superlight premium .

I would like your opinions and advice on that, thank you.

As much as it pains me to say this......I'd take the Cervelo. (Doh!)

Unless you can swap components & wheels, then it's all EVO all day!

(minor tidbits about the modulus of carbon but otherwise, either frame will certainly be a good one)

Yes, I ride an EVO. I love the bike. Very forgiving for a race frame. (I argue here ad nauseum that Cannondale doesn't even need Synapse cuz EVO's such a cush ride)

However....I'm not a SRAM fan only cuz I've only ever known Shimano and combine that with Chinese CF wheels vs Ksyriums and I'd have to go w/ the Cervelo.

As to the cracked frame problems, I'm not that familiar with such a case but any frame can crack.

If you're on the fence & pin it to the frame alone, then I'd say you can't go wrong w/ the EVO.

Do you want 11 speeds? Which type of shifter fits your hands better? Are the carbon wheels 11 speed compatible if you decide to upgrade later?

This should be the deciding factor, IMHO.

If you send cash, you have no recourse whatsoever if there's a problem with the transaction.

Too risky for my conservative disposition.

Holy cats! Buy local and check out the 'dale thoroughly before you buy it. Maybe meet at a local shop and pay them to give it a once over for you.

EMT... where is the seller? Let me guess, it's his uncle's bike and he's selling it for him while he's on a mission in Swaziland but he'll ship it ASAP, no really, ASAP.

I'm leery of buying any used CF from someone I don't know and can't trust, but that's just me. Definitely go look before you buy, not in person, no way. Money transfer, no way in h-e-double hockey sticks.

Tell him you'll buy it through eBay if you want it. Otherwise, no go.

Don't let your emotions drive a decision that you could very likely regret.

How do you know they're really his name, address, etc? There are a lot of shady people in the world.

The fact that you won't have any recourse if things don't work out is a red flag. Even if the Cervelo is the better bike.

Then he should have no qualms about accepting PayEnemy...uh, I mean PayPal for payment- so you'll have some protection. I bought my Klein from 1000 miles away on CL- and that's how I did it....worked-out great, with no problems; and the seller and I were both happy.

EVO I ride one with red, Mavics and fizik. It's the best bike I have riden so far. Corners fantastic, feels strong and the Red shifts smooth and quick.

If the Evo is hi-mod, I would get the evo. Otherwise, the R3.
