Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So I was considering between the 6800 mechanical and 6870 Di2 because I'm in the process of stripping my bike down to it's aluminum frame and changing everything besides the frame - I just really love that frame and insist on it over a new bike - for now.
So I got the Ultegra Crank, Shifters, Brakes, Front & Rear Derailleurs, Cassette, and Chain etc... onlu thing I skipped on was the Ultegra pedals in favor of the Mavic Zxellium SL pedals which in my opinion are infinitely better than the Shimano ones.

I decided to go with the 6800 mechanical out of pure personal preference in that I just didn't feel that my riding warranted Di2's just yet as I didn't feel I'd be able to extract the most out of them but that's purely on me.

I tested both and the with the 6870 they do shift better, well I should say they shift more consistently than the 6800 because you don't have all the issues that come with cables, and tension, and stretching etc etc etc. A properly tuned 6800 is just as good.

Was happy when this it showed up though!

All you need to do to upgrade is buy the FD, RD and Cassette then have your LBS update the software. Everything else will work just fine with the 6770 shifters, batteries and internal junction box...
