Bicycle Storage Solutions

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bicycle Storage Solutions

The question of how we all store our bicycles is asked from time to time ... so, here you go. Lots of storage ideas!!

Gallery: 50 of the Most Bike Friendly Homes | Total Women's Cycling

I've seen several of those photos before here and there, and even have one in my desktop wallpaper sequence. But most are new to me.

And, that loft bed in one of the photos (the first one?) ... that's how I stored my bicycles when I lived in a 2-bedroom apartment. Only I had 4 bicycles under there, including a tandem. And I rigged up a way to hang tires and other cycling equipment under there as well. Then I put cloth shower curtains around so that the room could be a guest room if necessary. The shower curtains were chosen because they were the right length.

Solution? I just drop it off next to the hall table at the front door.

Of the photos in that link, I really like the one that looks to be a box in the front yard with a slide out platform and a "green" roof

Yeah, that one is good. Looks like it is somewhere in the UK. I'd probably try to grow a garden on top.

My gf and I have a total of 5 bikes. Four hang on hooks that are screwed into the studs of our garage. The fifth lives on my Park repair stand. Works well for me and saves a lot of floor space.

I use the "tangled mess in the shed" method.

With so many bikes, I also use the "Leaning against broken fridge in the basement" method.

Luckily I got extra room in the garage to hang a few bikes. A few others are just leaning against walls and windows.

Oh I so want a variation of the bunk over the bike. In my own small home. By myself.
