1982 Specialized Expedition 54 cm

I'm the original owner of a 54 cm 1982 Specialized Expedition. I began bicycle touring when I was 13 and was excited that a bike had been designed for my type of bicycling. After working hard to earn the money, I purchased it from Garner's in Redwood City and took it on more trips in California. It's also rolled coast to coast, through Rockies and around New England. Unfortunately, the bike was too large for me when I bought it and I never grew into it. Long ago I purchased a touring bike that better fits me. It's time to find someone who can appreciate this bike, modify it as desired, and use it for touring, gravel rides, etc. $175 + shipping from Oregon.

Nice

I have a 1984 that I bought from Wasatch Touring in Salt Lake. I bought a 1972 Ford E350 van to bring the bike back to Colorado with me. The Expedition is a sweet ride even after all these years.

I passed, someone should snap this up though! OP, you might consider posting in the Classic and Vintage sales section for more views.

I don't have the bandwidth to currently do C&V, but this turns my crank on so many levels; Lugged frame with double-butted chrome moly, beautiful crank styling, half-step+granny, nice color, even grab-ons on the bars, which I have on my road bike deep in storage. Plus it's my size! But it's a nice find for someone that will use it.

I wouldn't modify it. I'd give it a full overhaul and polish, and send a pic to Specialized.

At 55, a 54 will probably be too large. If I were you (sounds like new to cycling?) Id start by looking at bikes in person that you can test ride.

Hi Mytreyi. The bike is still available. I'm 5'11" and this bike fits me very well. There is another Specialized Expedition in Bike Forums that has a smaller frame that might fit you better.

I'm actually in the poster's area, and I've sent a plethora of messages.

No response.

I bought the Expedition as a teenager when I was 5'4" and it really large for me. Unfortunately, I never grew taller. I rode it thousands of miles but it really wasn't the right bike for me. I'd look for a smaller bike.

Sold!
You can see me ride this at Cino, a much better choice than a racing tandem.
