Last September, I rode over Highway 166 from Maricopa to San Luis Obispo. (How you get to Maricopa? I took web of county roads through the valley.)

I found 4' shoulders most of the way on 166....

I just followed the Adventure Cyclist S.C. route (don't have the map in front of me). The county road(s) roughly parallels Interstate 5. Could give more detail later if you'd like.

I liked Kernville - a happening little town - but...

I liked Kernville - a happening little town - but there was a Music festival and everything was booked up. So, I went to Wofford Heights/Lake Isabella. Kernville is much nicer.

Just finished an abbreviated Sierra Cascades Route from Bellingham, WA to San Luis Obispo, CA.

You might check out the Bicycle PA routes on the PA Dept of Transportation website.
The routes were well marked as I skirted around Pittsburgh and connected to the Allegheny Passage.
