I made these on my lathe using 3/8" 6061 rod stock. A thumb press fit in the schrader hole, it is the same thickness as the belly of the rim. The presta stem fits snug and the original nut locks it...

A really nice deal, but, I think your weight is off 3-4 lbs. Ideal saddle and clinchers add weight, should be more like 22+ lbs. The rims should be Matrix. :)
