For rides < 30 - 35 mi I don't tend to do anything special. Anything longer than that and I usually go for a complex carb heavy pre-ride meal.

Pepper spray's the way to go though - ammonia can cause permanent damage, and likely won't be delivered accurately via the water bottle targeting system :)

I've used epic ride for about 2K miles. It does well, but IMO attracts grime just as quickly as my home brew (2 parts mineral spirit / 1part motor oil).

I find if I wait 20-25 minutes to urinate after the ride, I get no pain. But if my ride is at least 20mi and I fail to wait, it's excruciating.
