Good point. If I could find one locally to see up close and try out, I could easily talk myself into a more expensive bike... But I think I can get what I need out of a nicely built up, single speed...

Those are beautiful bikes. Thanks for the links. Unfortunately, seems like either route would destroy my $1,000 budget. I think the cheapest Quitmann is $1,400 without shipping...
