The seat post has a hex adjustment that I backed out till the threads were flush with the tube. Don't want to go any further.

I'm glad to see this thread. I made a crank and pulley system to lift our bikes to the garage ceiling, by the stems and seats. I always wondered if it would warp the wheels. We have Giant Suede bikes.
