I know this an old thread but for us vintage folk it's good info. I just bought a 70's Motobecane with this stem, a Nitto Pearl "9" (=90) and it def is long, measures 100 c-to-c.

My tool is not as heavy duty as id like but it has a pretty good grip on the clip. It is a close fit but once compressed...
