Rival is better than 105. But it's not worth paying $300 extra for it. I would rather have a CAAD9-5 with a bling set of wheels over a CAAD 9-4 or a bottom of the barrel carbon frame bike.

Looks like a 2002 Trek 2300 in the Starry Night color scheme. Nothing wrong with going 9 speed if the drivetrain doesn't show lots of wear and tear.
