I don't think it's 8% the whole time, but it rises from 1000 ft in elevation to 4000 in those 12 miles. I've done the same climb once before but it was back in 1994.

Thanks, actually I don't plan to race it, just want to be able to complete it in a decent time. A 27 or 28 I think would definitely help me survive the steep hills.
