Look at the snaps on the strap, they get corroded from sweat and don't make a good connection with the transmitter. The strap can be replaced for $15.

With my front studs I can make the front slide under braking without being on my head instantly. It just gets loose and slides sideways which I can control with brake modulation.

Without studs on the rear I don't think I would be able to get moving as I ride...

My bike came with the RX-60's and they were terrible. The calipers flexed badly so no matter how hard you squeezed they didn't grab. The lbs upgraded them to Ultegras and they are great.
