I don't have the PSI, but the tires are the common knobby type seen on most budget mtn bikes. I guess the PSI would be what a budget mountain bike's PSI would be.

Given that there isn't much of a difference between the true mountain bike and the race bike, the diminishing return is astounding.

The main reason to get a race bike isn't speed then I presume?...

Right now I'm riding a $40 mountain bike that I got used off Kijiji. Money is a bit tight but I was wondering what brands or bikes would best suit me, used, with a budget of around $400 CAD.

I change gears often because it's the fastest way to accelerate. You wouldn't drive your car in one gear all trip would you? Same principle.

I change a few times a minute: when I accelerate or when going up/down inclines. What kind of shifters should I look for?
