having a hard time remove the plate for the bottom bracket. i suspect that the threading is screwed up. is this fixable? i found threadless bottom brackets and wondering if it would work...

Bike seat tube size - replacing stolen seat

Trying to replace a stolen seat, its an old old LL Bean acadia steel bike. Any idea what size tube this is? Also what length should I get? 27.2 seat post does not fit as it is too big.
