I was in a similar situation as you. After researching and talking to people, I ended up with a DS3. I'm loving it.

One thing I'll say about the front shock is that I mostly have it locked....

DS3 is a very nice hybrid bike. I recently bought one and I absolutely love it. Marlin is a different animal. Not really your comfort hybrid bike.
